Because an encounter with an oddly colored or "shiny" Pokemon in the wild is rare, it is not unusual for players to use a cheating device such as an Action Replay code to obtain one. With the aid of Action Replay for the Nintendo DS, any monster in "Pokemon Pearl" can be captured in its shiny alternative pallet of colors. Successfully activating the code and catching a shiny Pokemon allows you to add an exotic flair to Pokemon that are already difficult to get, like Deoxys or Articuno.

Enter the following code on the Action Replay menu before starting Pokemon Pearl: 12068AC6 60000460.

Resume your saved game in Pokemon Pearl. Press and hold the "L," "R" and "Up" buttons to activate the shiny Pokemon code.

Encounter or receive any wild Pokemon, and it will appear shiny. Capture it in a Pokeball, and save your game.
