How to Get Through the Lakebed Temple

Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" role-playing game for the Nintendo Wii and GameCube includes three temples that you as Link must complete to get the master sword. The Lakebed Temple, located at the bottom of Lake Hylia, contains the last of the three fused shadows. To access and beat the Lakebed Temple, you need the water bombs, the Zora armor and the iron boots along with your other items.

Instructions

    • 1

Swim through the entrance corridor, avoiding the enemies because at this point you cannot fight them. When you come up on dry land, you'll see a room with some treasure chests, a staircase and a locked door at the top. Get the treasure and go up the stairs. Turn around and jump to hang from the ceiling switch handle and unlock the door. Go through it.

    • 2

Equip bomb arrows. Aim up and fire at all the narrow bits of rock you see hanging. Destroying these will cause rocks to fall to the ground and create a path for you. Go to the northern door.

    • 3

Walk down the rotating staircase in the next room and circle to the right when you reach the bottom until you're at the south side of the room. Jump and grab the handle protruding from the ceiling to make the staircase spin 180 degrees. Walk up the steps, go to the east side and activate the handle. Take the stairs to the lower west door. If you explore this section of the walkway before proceeding you will see a treasure chest with the dungeon map inside.

    • 4

Destroy the hanging stalactites with bomb arrows and take the tunnel to the right of the entrance. Jump across the water using the rocks for stepping stones and open the treasure chest for a small key. Return to the central chamber, go up the steps and circle around to go through the upper west door.

    • 5

Go right, shoot the stalactites, access the vines, climb up them and pull the handle near the top. Drop to the ground and go through the western door. You'll have to use a bomb on the rock blocking your path.

    • 6

Shoot the bubble enemy with a bomb arrow to remove the bubble and kill it with arrows or sword strikes. Go back through the door to your left, which leads you to the other side of the chamber. Jump down and go get the small key from the chest nearby.

    • 7

Retrace your steps and take the door leading into the interior of this area. Jump across the cogwheels and take the north door. Go back to the western door where the bubble enemy was and open the locked door. Make your way up the spiral ramp and climb the ladder on the right ledge. Jump off and grab the switch to open the floodgates, turning the tedious ascent into a long water slide.

    • 8

Swim to the center of the room at the bottom, climb the ledge and trigger the hanging switch to open the ground floodgates and let water flow into the main chambers. Go back to the previous rooms, where you will notice the waterwheel to the right is turning. Take the door into the cog room and drop to the ground floor. Go to the right side of the room and climb up. Jump onto the rotating platforms, wait for them to reach the northern door and go through it for a small key. Go back, jump on the platforms and go through the west door and open the locked door.

    • 9

Swim through until you encounter a spiderweb wall with a rock. Put on the iron boots and use a bomb. Continue through until you surface in a round area. Look directly up in first-person view and try not to panic at the huge twilight-mutated frog clinging to the ceiling.

    • 10

Kill the froglets it shakes from its back and run when it jumps onto the ceiling. Avoid the shadow; when the frog lands, slash the exposed tongue wildly. Repeat this cycle until the frog is dead and collect the clawshot from the treasure chest.

    • 11

Use the clawshot on the red target/switch in the south part of the room. Your weight pulls it down and opens the door. Drop down and run through.

    • 12

Go up the rotating staircase and circle around to the upper west side. Clawshot the target and travel to the lower east wing.

    • 13

Go through until you reach the room with rotating cogs. Clawshot onto a target on the underside of the cog and traverse the room. Target the vines on the pillars and go to the upper floor of this room. Latch onto the vines on the wall and climb across to the northeast door.

    • 14

Go east and shoot the hanging stalactite with a bomb arrow to create a movable platform on top of the geyser. Jump on it and over the wall. In the next room, clawshot onto the ceiling vines, crawl over and drop into the room. Do the same for this room that you did to open the other floodgates; you will have to hook your way over the gaps going up the ramp. Latch onto the treasure chest for the compass.

    • 15

Go back into the cog room and latch onto the target. Let the cogs rotate and take you into the eastern door that you haven't entered yet. Jump into the water, drop all the way down with the iron boots, and take the channel to the left. Go right and rise, landing again on the ledge at mid-depth. You should see a rock blocking a path; blow it up and go through. Go right, drop and destroy the next boulder.

    • 16

Resurface and get out of the water next to the door leading to the smaller chamber. Kill the bubble enemy with the clawshot and hook on to the target above. Press "Down" to extend the chain downward, lowering you onto a platform with a previously inaccessible chest. This is the big key. Go back to the central room of the dungeon, which is now filled with water. Jump into it after rotating the staircase one last time.

    • 17

Swim to the pivot point of the staircase and unlock the door inside it. Collect the heart containers and faerie and then drop into the pit.

    • 18

Target the eyeball floating among Morpheel's tentacles with the clawshot, but keep as much distance as you can to avoid getting eaten. Slash it with your sword; after three strikes the next phase of the battle starts. Unequip the iron boots and swim after Morpheel. Target the eyeball on its back, clawshot onto it and attack as quickly as you can until it shakes you off. Repeat until Morpheel is dead.

    • 19

Collect the full heart container and the fused shadow. You have beaten Lakebed Temple.
