Setting Up Your Wi-Fi Network
Take your Wi-Fi router out of its retail packaging. Plug the power adapter into a free outlet near your existing HughesNet Router. Plug the opposite end of the power cable into the back of the Wi-Fi router.
Plug an Ethernet cable into a free port on the back of the HughesNet router. Plug the opposite end of the cable into the "IN" port on the back of the Wi-Fi router.
Connect a laptop computer to the new Wi-Fi network if you want to change the advanced settings of your Wi-Fi network. This is not mandatory, but you may want to enable encryption on your network, especially if you live in an urban area. Each router's setup is different. Consult the Wi-Fi router user manual for precise instructions.
Connecting the Wii to Your Wi-Fi Network
Turn on your Wii and your television. Pick up a Wii remote to begin. Click the "Wii" button in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
Click "Wii Settings," then press the right arrow. Select "Internet," then "Connection Settings." Choose "Connection 1," or the first free connection if you have pre-existing connections.
Select "Wireless Connection." Click "Search for an Access Point." Wait for the Wii system to find your Wi-Fi network, then click "OK."
Click your Wi-Fi network. If you created a password for your network in Section 1, enter it now with the on-screen keyboard. Press "OK." Select "OK" again to begin the connection test.
Click "Yes" to finish the set-up process. If your Wii prompts you to update the connection software, do so.
