How to Reformat a Wii

The formatting process completely erases all content from the system you are operating on. When you format your Nintendo Wii, you will delete all Wii Channels, game save information, account settings, Miis and other data associated with your gaming console. Formatting will wipe the Wii system memory clean and return it to its original factory condition.

Instructions

      Turn on your Wii and navigate to the Wii Menu.

      Click on the "Wii" button in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

      Select "Wii Settings."

      Press the "Right" arrow on the directional pad to scroll to the third page of the Wii System Settings menu.

      Select "Format System Memory." A new screen will load.

    • 6

      Click the "Format" button. A message will appear will the process is complete. The Wii will shut down.
