How to Swing Straight in Wii Golf

One of the more challenging aspects of Wii golf is learning how to swing your clubs. Using too little force will harm your score, but using too much force causes the ball to hook, sending the ball off course. By learning how to adjust your swing-strength to stay inside the limits of the power gauge, you will shoot with greater accuracy and post better scores when playing this popular Wii game.

Instructions

    • 1

Stand squarely in front of your television. Hold your Wii-mote down toward the ground, as if it were a golf club. The front of the Wii-mote should be facing the ground, and the back of the Wii-mote, where the nunchuck plugs in, should be facing up toward your face.

    • 2

Swing your Wii-mote like a golf club, moving it backward, and then forward toward your shoulders in an arc. Since you have not pressed the "A" button, these are only practice swings.

    • 3

Watch the meter on the left-hand side of the screen. Notice how it stays blue if you do not exceed the boundaries of the meter, but it immediately turns red and rocks left and right rapidly if you exceed the meter boundaries.

    • 4

Stay within the bounds of the power meter by not swinging too forcefully. Experiment with different swing strengths. Try to maximize the power of your shot without exceeding the gauge. By staying within the gauge, your shot will not hook or slice.

    • 5

Press the "A" button when you are ready to take your shot. Repeat the swinging motion -- backward first, and then toward your shoulders in an arc without using too much power. You can also adjust the angle of your shot for wind by pressing left or right on the "D" pad, much like in Wii bowling.
