How to Save Data to a Wii Controller

The Wii controller is the device that is synced to the the Wii system and dictates the controls. The main portion of the controller is known as the Wiimote. There is an additional component known as the nunchuck. The Wiimote can be used and synced to any Wii system. The controller is also Bluetooth-enabled and can control your home computer. Saving on the Wiimote is limited to storing your Mii, which is a character profile you create, and system control settings for certain games.

Instructions

  1. Saving Mii Characters

    • 1

Turn on the Wii and select the Mii channel. The Mii channel is pre-installed on all Wii systems. Once the Mii channel is open, select "Start."

    • 2

Select the icon on the right-hand side of the screen that looks like the Wiimote. This is the Transfer Mii option. If using more than one remote, select which Wiimote the Mii is to be saved on.

    • 3

Format the Wiimote if this is the first time you have saved a Mii to the Wiimote. The Wii will prompt and ask if you would like to format the Wiimote. Select "Yes" and the system will do it for you. The Wii will then give instructions on how to grab a Mii and add it to the Wiimote.

    • 4

Select the Mii character you want to save to the Wiimote. Once the Mii is selected press and hold the A and B buttons on the Wiimote. Drag the character to the open slot at the top of the screen.

    • 5

Select save and quit when finished. The Mii is now saved to your Wiimote. You can now sync your Wiimote to another Wii by pressing the red button under the battery cover to connect to the Wii.

    Saving Game Controls

    • 6

Select control settings on games that allow you to change button configuration. "Super Smash Bros." is one such game that will allow you to change configuration to allow for individual settings.

    • 7

Change the button configurations using the Wiimote that will be used. Save the configuration once it is set up the way you like. The Wiimote will automatically store these changes.

    • 8

Sync the Wiimote to another Wii system by pressing the red button under the battery cover. If you were to play "Super Smash Bros." you would not need to change the configuration settings on your Wiimote.
