My Wii Won't Come On

Although first and foremost a motion-gaming console, the Nintendo Wii allows users to access a variety of features. Some Wii games give the user a workout with a Wii personal trainer. When connected to the Internet, the console provides users access to Netficks and other Wii channels. While the Wii has a variety of features, when it won't turn on, you can access none of them. The most common cause for a Wii failing to turn on is a power adapter issue. Resetting your power adapter will correct most power problems associated with the Wii console.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Wii AC power adapter from both the Wii and the power strip.

    • 2

Leave the device unplugged for at least two minutes. This resets the console.

    • 3

      Unplug any USB cables.

    • 4

Check the adapter for two things: First, ensure the adapter is in fact the one that came with your console. It will have "Wii" and the model number "RVL-002" molded into it. Next, check that the power adapter has not been damaged.

    • 5

Plug the power adapter directly into the wall and into the Wii.

    • 6

Turn on the Wii. If it comes on and stays on, the reset worked. If it does not, you will need to get your Wii and the power adapter repaired. To begin the repair process, visit the Nintendo support Web page listed in the Resources section.
