How to Troubleshoot an Intec Nunchuk

Intec nunchuks are video game controllers used with the Nintendo Wii system. The device is plugged into the main controller using a connecting cable and held in one hand while the main controller is held in the other. The nunchuk has a joystick control which you move with your thumb and two trigger buttons you use with your index finger. If you experience problems with the controller, instead of going out and buying a new controller, try using a few trouble shooting techniques.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the connection. An improperly connected nunchuk will not function properly. Check the connector and also check to make sure the Wii motion bar is firmly connected to the Wii.

    • 2

Remove the connector and clean it. Dust and dirt can accumulate, causing the nunchuk to not work properly. Wipe the outside of the connector with a clean cloth. Use a cotton swab wet with rubbing alcohol to clean the connector ports for the nunchuk and main controller. Allow it to dry completely before reconnecting and trying again.

    • 3

Put new batteries in the main controller. Weak batteries impact the effectiveness of the controller and the nunchuk.

    • 4

Turn the Wii off. Put joystick on the nunchuk in a resting, neutral postion. Turn the Wii back on before moving the stick. If the stick is moved during the booting of the system, it can cause the nunchuk to not register correctly.

    • 5

Reset the nunchuk by putting the joystick in the neutral postion. Then push all four buttons, A, B, plus and minus, all at the same time and hold them for three seconds.

    • 6

Unplug the nunchuk during game play for one minute. Keep the joystick in a neutral position during this time. Reconnect the nunchuk. This should reset and recalibrate the unit.
