Things You'll Need
Instructions
Clean the non-working DVD with a lens cleaning cloth and rubbing alcohol to ensure the Wii is not having trouble reading a dirty disc. Clean gently in straight motions from the disc's central hole to outer edge as writable DVDs are more susceptible to scratching than commercial ones.
Open "Control Panel" in your computer's Start menu and choose "Hardware and Devices." Click the "+" sign next to "CD and DVD Drives" and right-click your DVD drive then choose "Properties." Click "Update Driver" to make sure the error is not being caused by a conflict between your operating system and DVD drive. This could cause your PC to burn unreadable discs.
Re-burn the problematic data to a new disc at a slower write speed. Many DVD writers default to the fastest writing speed available, but modified Wii consoles will often experience errors with data written at greater speeds.
Use a disc writing program other than Verbatim's software, such as your computer's built-in disc writing function, to burn a new copy of the disc. Robert Saotome, Wii home-brew community moderator, explains: "Verbatim's software indexes data in such a way that many modified Wiis will have trouble reading it. It's better to use another program to write discs."
Insert the newly-burned disc into your Wii without applying the LightScribe label. Boot the disc to ensure it works, then eject it.
Insert the disc into your computer's drive and open the LightScribe software. Apply the label to the working disc and re-insert it into your Wii to play games from a working LightScribe-labeled disc.
