Specifications of the Nintendo Wii

The Nintendo Wii video game console was released in 2006 as Nintendo's fifth entry into the home video game console market. The Nintendo Wii can play Wii games as well as Nintendo GameCube games. Surprisingly, the Nintendo Wii's hardware specifications are similar to those of the GameCube system, with a few upgrades.
  1. CPU

    • The Wii contains a "Broadway" CPU that runs at 728 MHz with a maximum bandwidth of 1.9 GB per second.

    GPU

    • The Wii contains the "Hollywood" GPU that runs at 243 MHz with 3 MB of graphics memory and 24 MB of integrated memory.

    RAM

    • The WIi contains 64 MB of GDDR3 memory.

    Optical Disc Drive

    • The Wii contains an optical disc drive that supports both standard 12 cm sized discs and Gamecube 8 cm sized minidiscs. It runs at a speed equivalent to DVDx6.

    Hard Drive Disk

    • The Wii contains 512 MB of internal storage.

    Networking

    • The Wii contains a wireless network receiver that allows users to connect their console to wireless Internet access points.

    Ports

    • The Wii contains two USB ports and one standard SD card slot as well as two slots for GameCube memory cards.
