How to Pause a Wii

Most games for the Nintendo Wii have a function built in that allows users to temporarily pause the game while they accomplish other tasks such as using the restroom, grabbing a bite to eat or simply taking a break. The actual method for pausing Wii games, however, can differ from game to game. Most games, if not all games, however can be paused using the same method. Prior to playing, users should consult the instruction manual for specific instructions on how exactly to pause that specific game.

Instructions

  Begin playing a game on the Wii.

  Press the "+" button on the Wii remote. This button is located in the center of the remove, when held vertically, and directly to the right of the "home" button.

  Press the "Home" button, located in the center of the Wii remote when held vertically, if the "+" button fails to pause the game. This button can be identified by the picture of a blue house located on its face. Pressing this button will bring up the Wii's system menu and pause the game being played .

  Return to the game and press the "+" key again to unpause. If the "Home" key was used to pause the game, press the button again to make the menu disappear.
