How to Install the Wii Internet Channel

The Internet Channel for the Nintendo Wii is a free download available through the Wii Shop Channel. This channel provides your Wii console with the Opera Internet browser, which can be accessed with either a USB keyboard or the Wii Remote. The Opera browser on the Wii can perform many of the same functions as a traditional desktop browser, including searching web pages, playing games and watching streaming videos. The Internet Channel takes just a few minutes to download and install.

Instructions

  Power on your Wii console and wait for the main menu to load. Choose "Wii Shop Channel," then press the "Start" button on the screen.

  Highlight "Start Shopping," then choose "Wii Channels." Press the up and down arrows along the right side of the screen to search through the list of available channels.

  Select "Internet Channel." Choose "Free" for the purchasing option.

  Select either the Wii system memory or an SD card as the download location for the Wii Internet Channel.

  Press the "OK" button to confirm the download, then select "Yes" to download the channel. You can now select the Wii Internet Channel from the main menu.
