Troubleshooting a Wii With Qwest DSL

The Wii is a home-gaming console released by Nintendo in 2008. It features one-of-a-kind motion sensing controls, which allow players to pantomime the actions of their in-game characters. The Wii is capable of connecting to an active wireless Internet connection for online gaming, software downloads, news and weather up-dates, and web browsing. Generally speaking, you'll need a high-speed connection such as cable Internet or DSL to make the best use of your Wii's online functionality. If you are having trouble connecting your Wii to your Quest DSL Internet connection, there are a few options available to fix the problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your modem and router to ensure your Internet connection is active. Ensure that your router is properly connected to the modem, and that both devices are plugged in to an electrical outlet. If you are unsure if your Internet connection is active, try navigating to an often-used website such as Google, Yahoo!, or your work email. Reset your Modem and Router if your Internet connection is not functional. Look for a Reset button on both devices. If you cannot locate one, disconnect the devices from electricity for about 15 seconds, then plug them back in.

    • 2

Check your router settings, and ensure that you have the proper SSID and security key. You'll need to know the name of your router, and the password if you have the Internet connection protected. Check your user manual, or contact Qwest if you did not set your own password.

    • 3

Power on your Wii. Select "Wii Menu" from the bottom left corner of the screen, then select "Wii Settings."

    • 4

Click "Internet," then select "Connection Settings."

    • 5

Choose a wireless connection profile, then select "Search for Access Point." Locate your wireless router from this list, then click on the name to connect to your wireless network. Enter any security information if necessary, then select "OK" to save your settings. You should be able to use your Wii online with your Qwest DSL service.
