How Do You Sync a Wii Remote to the System?

The innovative Nintendo Wii home video gaming console allows users to swing the Wiimote to make motions in games, such as swinging a bat or slashing with a sword. Before a Wiimote can be used with the system, it must be synchronized by a series of button presses. This process should take players less than a minute to complete.

  Press the power button of the Wii to turn the system on.

  Remove the battery cover from the back of the Wiimote. Press the red "Sync" button below the battery slot. The lights on the front of the Wiimote will blink.

  Open the SD memory card slot on the front of the console. Press the red "Sync" button that is located on the inside of this compartment.

  Wait for the lights on the Wii remote to stop blinking. After the blinking stops, the "1" light should remain lit to indicate this is the remote for player one.

  Repeat this process to synchronize other Wiimotes with the system. Four Wiimotes can be used at one time.
