Check the location of your Wii Speak microphone. Placing the mic near speakers or other electronic devices, such as DVD players or the Wii console itself, can cause interference. Furniture in the room can also reflect interference at the mic, so make sure you have a clear open space. Lastly, do not hold the mic by hand-- this prevents the Wii Speak̵7;s noise filters from working properly.
Check your audio setup. Make sure all of the cables are inserted correctly. This is probably the most common problem and is easily fixed. Ensure that your Wii is set to a compatible sound setting with your TV. If your TV is mono, set the Wii to "Mono" in the Sound Settings menu and plug in the white audio cable only. If your TV supports stereo, set the Wii to "Stereo" in the Sound Settings menu and plug in the white and red audio cables into the correct inputs on your TV.
Check your Internet connection. A bad internet connection can cause all sorts of problems, such as echo and poor quality. Use only high-speed connections, such as cable, DSL or fiber optic. The Wii Speak will not work over dial-up or other slow connections. Disconnect any other devices connected to the network that may slow it down, such as a computer. If you are using a wireless router, make sure the Wii is close enough to it to get a good signal. The farther away it is, the slower the connection.
Make sure your friends troubleshoot as well. It is entirely possible that your Wii Speak is working fine but your friend̵7;s Wii Speak is the problem. If your friends have any of the issues above, this may cause feedback on your end.
