Real ID is an optional friending system that allows you to keep track of your friends through all Blizzard games, including "World of Warcraft," by adding their email address to your friends list. Using Real ID, you will be able to see on which server your friends are playing "World of Warcraft," and you will also see them online if they are playing another Blizzard game such as "Starcraft 2." Through Real ID, you will be able to chat to your friends whenever they're online, even if they're playing on a different server or in a different game than you are.

Log in to "World of Warcraft," select any of your characters and click "Enter World." Once the character has loaded, press "O" to open the Social interface panel.

Click the "Add Friend" button.

Type your friend's email address in the box that appears and click "Add Friend."
