Cheats for How to Put Water in the Yard on Sims 2

In "The Sims 2," you can place water on your lots in the form of swimming pools or ponds. Swimming pools allow Sims to dive and swim. Ponds give Sims the ability to catch fish. Building either of these water elements on your lot does not require any special cheats or tricks. To build more complex water elements on your lot, such as waterfalls or water parks, you can use the console to allow cheats or just exploit bugs and tricks already in the code.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a waterfall. Use the middle-sized elevation tool to raise the ground in roughly a circle. Level off the top with the leveling tool. Build a fence around three sides of your elevated area. Select the water tool and position the white center dot at the edge of your elevated section. Click and hold until the arrow turns red. Delete the fence. Use the terrain tool to change the color of the ground in and around the water. You can use the standard white or gray terrain colors or download a custom blue terrain.

Make a water slide. Use the pool tool to create a pool of any size. Add a one-square wide extension to the pool in any direction. Open the console by pressing "Ctrl-Shift-C" at the same time. Type "boolprop constrainFloorElevation false" and press return. Use the elevation tool to raise the level of the ground underneath your one-square wide extension. Use the leveling tool to flatten out an area around the edge of your extension. Open the console and type "moveobjects on" and press return. Add a diving board to the edge of the extension.

Create an island. Place a lot in a neighborhood with lots of water in it, such as Bluewater, Driftwood or IslaSegundo. Use the elevation tool to lower the terrain around the edges of the lot, leaving a section at its original height. Terrain dropped below "sea level" in these neighborhoods will automatically fill up with water.

Turn water effects on or off. While on an active lot, open the console by pressing "Ctrl-Shift-C" at the same time. Type "boolprop lotWater false" to get rid of the water animations on the lot. The water will still be there, and your Sims can still interact with the pond, such as with the fishing action, but the water will not appear. Turn the water effects back on by typing "boolprop lotWater true" in the console.

Make a swimmable pond or ocean. Use the terrain tool to drop the level of the ground five clicks in the shape you want your pond to be. Use the leveling tool to flatten out the sunken area. Use the foundation tool to build a deck that juts out into your pool area. Use the "moveobjects on" cheat to place a diving board and pool ladder off the deck into your pool. Place some stairs up to the deck area so your Sims can access the diving board and ladder. Sims will treat this area like a pool, even though there is no water. Use a custom water terrain color and some aquatic plants to make your pool look more like a lake.
