Tunnel Cheats for RCT3

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 lacks a feature its two predecessors had. RCT3 does not let the gamer build underground walkways or run rides through mountains and hills. That could be a major bummer for someone who is used to those features from the previous two games. However, do not fear: There are a couple of cheats -- well, they're almost cheats. The trick is knowing how to find them.

Loss of a Popular Feature
- The first two RollerCoaster Tycoon games allowed gamers to tunnel underground whenever the need or desire struck them. However, with the new 3-D aspects that came with RCT3, underground tunnelling was eliminated. An IGN.com reviewer asked whether eliminating it was necessary, but mused that the 3-D aspect may have made too many underground exits and entrances possible and could cause an overload.
Cheat Code
- There is no cheat code (as of June 2011) that will allow a person to create tunnels in the base version of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. The only thing users can do when they want to build underground is use the shovel tool to create valleys with high walls. The game interface itself does not allow you to build tunnels.
A Glitch
- There is a glitch in the game that was published on neoseeker.com. While it isn't a "cheat," it does allow the gamer to create something that looks like and has the effect of a tunnel. A user discovered that if the gamer builds a footpath leading into the side of the wall, the footpath will disappear into the wall and eventually come out the other side. It does not leave the perfect tunnel shape, as previous games did, but guests can walk into the wall and come out the other side.
A New Expansion
- Then along came the RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Soaked expansion pack, in 2005. It brought the popular tunnel feature back to the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise, and an IGN reviewer praised the game makers for doing so. It brought back the features that players of the first two games enjoyed. It also corrected a major problem that players found when they played the game for the first time and eliminated the need to take advantage of a glitch to build a tunnel.
