How to Unlock An Extra Custom Class Slot In Modern Warfare 2

First, to unlock an extra custom class slot in Modern Warfare 2, you must be registered to play online with whatever system you use. For Xbox 360 this is Xbox Live and on PS3 this is Playstation Network (on PC it's just the good old internet).

Next, you will need to achieve level 70 in multiplayer. For anyone just beginning Modern Warfare 2 online, as you gain experience you will "level up". Experience is gained via getting kills, winning games, and just playing games. The more you play, the more experience you gain.

It will take some time to reach level 70, but as you get better at the game you will level up faster.

Now, to unlock an extra custom class you will need to enter Prestige Mode. Once you reach level 70 (the highest level), you will be asked if you want to enter Prestige Mode.

By entering Prestige Mode, all of the weapons you have earned will be reset as you work through Prestige Mode.

Once you have entered Prestige Mode, enter the "Custom Class" menu. You will now for the first time see six custom class slots in Modern Warfare 2, instead of just five.

Select the 6th custom class to customize it just as you would any other.
