Dance Dance Revolution (Series)
With the popular Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) series of games, you'll dance in sync with the onscreen arrows using the required floor pad. The floor pad features four arrows---up, right, down and left. Some floor pads feature two sets of arrows so you can play with a friend. As you play the game, arrows will fall from the top of the screen in tune with the music. Step on the corresponding arrow on the floor mat to earn points. As you advance in difficulty, the arrows will fall in increasing numbers and velocity. At some point, you'll have to start jumping when you're required to hit two arrows simultaneously.
You'll find several versions of DDR for the PlayStation 2 that suit various musical tastes and skill levels. Examples include the Disney Mix, DDR Extreme and DDR Max.
EyeToy: Kinetic
The PlayStation 2 EyeToy uses color and motion recognition to put you right into the game you're playing. The camera-like device sits above your television as you play, captures your image and projects it onto the screen. In EyeToy: Kinetic, this feature is put to use as you go through a variety of rigorous training routines, including cardio exercise mini-games that have you swatting at and dodging incoming multi-colored orbs. Other activities include punching and destroying walls and bricks. In addition to cardio, you can work on your muscle tone and balance with activities such as abdominal exercises, strength exercises, yoga and Tai Chi. Set up a 12-week personal trainer program to track your improvement over time and work toward a fitness goal.
Yourself!Fitness
In Yourself!Fitness, you'll be guided through a workout routine led by digital personal trainer Maya. When you start a fitness program with Maya, she'll take information such as your weight and height and use the information to calculate your ideal weight loss goal. You'll work toward the goal with a full exercise regimen consisting of cardio exercises, strength exercises and flexibility exercises.
Yourself!Fitness uses standard fitness equipment: hand weights, yoga balls and steps. While not required, these items open up additional exercise opportunities within the game. If you're using Yourself!Fitness as part of a weight-loss plan, you might find it helpful that the game also offers a suggested menu. Select your ideal calorie intake range and Maya will provide sample meals that fit in that range.
