How to Convert a PIS File to ELF

PIS and ELF files are most commonly used in the PS2 emulator arena, where they contain virtual game data designed to let users run PlayStation 1 and 2 games on their computers under an emulator. This practice, while sometimes frowned upon, is entirely legal, provided that the games you use are copies that you made. You can quickly change a PIS file into an ELF file through a simple extension change, since both files use the same internal format and are read identically by emulator programs.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your computer and open the folder that contains your PIS files.

    • 2

Right-click on the PIS file you want to convert and click "Rename."

    • 3

Wait for a Properties window to appear, then type change the file extension from ".pis" to ".elf" in the top box under the "General" tab in the Properties window.

    • 4

Click "OK" to save the changes.
