Secret Character on Marvel Vs. Capcom 2

̶0;Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes̶1; exploded into arcades in the year 2000. ̶0;Marvel vs. Capcom 2̶1; was the sequel to the original ̶0;Marvel vs. Capcom̶1; and the successor to other Capcom fighting games such as ̶0;Street Fighter II,̶1; ̶0;Darkstalkers,̶1; ̶0;X-Men: Children of the Atom̶1; and ̶0;Marvel Super Heroes.̶1; ̶0;Marvel vs. Capcom 2̶1; introduced a new three-on-three tag-team fighting style that allowed players to switch between one of three characters during their fight. ̶0;Marvel vs. Capcom 2̶1; starred 28 fighters from both the Marvel Comics and Capcom franchises and featured an additional 28 secret characters.
  1. Secret Characters in the Arcade Game

    • ̶0;Marvel vs. Capcom 2̶1; shipped to arcades with a total of 28 playable characters. Each arcade console gains levels as players played the game. Each time the machine gains a level, one of the playable characters will receive a gold box surrounding his or her image. Once each character receives a gold box, additional characters can be unlocked. After reaching level 24, the arcade unlocks eight additional characters. These characters include Cammy, Omega Red, Jill, Psylocke, Sakura, Rouge, Tron Bonne and Storm. Reaching level 48 will place a gold box around the newly unlocked characters and unlock eight additional characters, including Chun-Li, Iron Man, M. Bison, Silver Samurai, Megaman, War Machine, Roll and Wolverine-2. The game will unlock an additional eight characters after reaching level 72. These characters include Charlie, Blackheart, Dan, Colossus, Dhalsim, Sabertooth, Ken and Spiral. The final block of four characters unlocks after reaching level 84. These characters include Felicia, Sentinel, Servbot (Kobun) and Thanos.

    Secret Characters in the Japanese Sega Dreamcast Game and Arcade Consoles

    • The Sega Dreamcast allowed players to unlock characters by gaining experience on either the console or arcade versions of the game. The Japanese version of the ̶0;Marvel vs. Capcom 2̶1; arcade cabinet has a data port that can be accessed via Sega̵7;s Visual Memory Unit. The VMU transfers any currently unlocked characters on the arcade console to the saved game file located on the VMU. This feature was removed from all versions of ̶0;Marvel vs. Capcom 2̶1; that were released outside of Japan.

    Secret Characters on the International Sega Dreamcast Game and PlayStation 2 Game

    • Because the VMU integration was removed from the international release of ̶0;Marvel vs. Capcom 2,̶1; a new point system was created to allow players to unlock characters. Players earned points for each minute that they played the game. Players of the console versions of ̶0;Marvel vs. Capcom 2̶1; can access the Secret Store in the main menu, which allows them to purchase new characters, new stages and alternative costumes for each character.

    Evil Sakura and Zangief

    • In addition to the secret characters that need to be unlocked by playing the game, Sakura and Zangief have the ability to transform into evil versions of themselves by using a specific button sequence. Besides changing colors, Evil Sakura and Zangief are faster, take less damage from attacks and have access to new fighting moves that their normal personas do not. After selecting Sakura or Zangief, press ̶0;Back,̶1; ̶0;Down̶1; and ̶0;Down/Back̶1; plus the ̶0;Low Kick̶1; button to transform into their evil counterparts. Performing this move will consume one level on the power bar.

    Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Rerelease

    • "Marvel vs. Capcom 2" was released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles as a downloadable title. In addition to improved game play and an upgraded high-definition display, the next-generation version of this game starts with all of the characters unlocked.
