How to Get Past the 3rd Academy in Top Gun for PS2

"Top Gun: Combat Zones" is a flying video game title available for the PlayStation (PS2) system. In the game, players take control of a fighter pilot and fight in missions of Air-to-Air (A2A) combat. In the third academy mission, players must take down five fighter jets to complete the level. Even for those relatively inexperienced with the game, the mission is simple to complete by learning a few tactics.

Instructions

- 1
  Control the fighter with the left analog stick. Pressing the stick up will move the plane down, while pressing the stick down will lift the plane upward. Moving the stick to the left or right takes the fighter in that direction.

  Press the "Triangle" button on the controller to select your target. Once you have selected a target, follow behind him and focus your aiming reticle on him.

  Press the "X" button on the controller to fire your machine gun once you have one of your targets in sight. If you are having trouble hitting the fighter planes, aim slightly ahead of where the planes are moving.
- 4
  Press the "Square" button to fire your secondary weapon. Be sure to fire this weapon only with the enemy locked into your sight. The mission is complete once you have taken down all five enemy fighters.
