How to Get SS4 in Dragon Ball Z

"Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3" incorporates characters from both the "Dragon Ball Z" and "Dragon Ball GT" anime and manga series. Many of the characters are readily available for use in the Versus and Dragon Universe, the game's equivalent of Story Mode, but you must unlock other characters through gameplay. The most powerful characters, like Goku's ultimate form, SSJ4 Goku, are among those that must be unlocked. The process for unlocking SSJ4 Goku is not obvious as it is for other characters, and it is easily overlooked.

Instructions

  Play through Dragon Universe (DU) mode as Goku until you get to the battle with Kid Buu.

  Equip the Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2 and Spirit Bomb abilities before entering the battle with Kid Buu. Battle with Kid Buu and, while Goku is in his regular state, initiate the Spirit Bomb. Instead of the usual attack, a new cutscene will occur and Goku will attempt to perform the Super Spirit Bomb. Follow the onscreen instructions to execute the attack.

  Defeat Kid Buu. If you performed the Spirit Bomb correctly, the DU story continues --- if not, the story finishes and the credits roll. Fly to the World Martial Arts Tournament, but do not enter.

  Fly over to the islands to the east of this area and explore until you see "???" appear on the screen. Land in this area to see a cutscene and unlock SSJ4 Goku.
