Your Characters
By the time you face Dran, you'll have two members in your party: the warrior Toan and the cat-girl Xiao. With his blades, Toan can deliver considerably more damage than Xiao, but in order to do so, he has to get up close to the enemy, leaving himself vulnerable to counteract. In contrast, Xiao's slingshot isn't particularly powerful, but she can use it at a distance, where she is safe from Dran's beastly onslaught.
Pre-Battle Preparation
Ensure that both characters are in prime condition. There are three stats to be aware of. The first is your characters' health meter. You can fill this by drinking water or consuming restorative items, like healing potions. Similarly, ensure that both your characters have a full thirst meter by drinking water or a bottled refreshment. Finally, repair your weapons if they've worn down. If they wear down all the way, they'll break in the middle of battle. The more worn they are, the less effective they are as well. To ensure optimal performance, get both Xiao's and Toan's weapons to 100 percent by using repair powder.
Dran
Dran is the Lord of Beasts, the first boss you have to fight. When you encounter him, he'll be possessed by the dark genie. His attacks are powerful, and if you get hit even a few times, they can utterly destroy your characters. He's also fast, making him a deadly foe. In order to win, you'll need to use teamwork between Toan and Xiao to keep Dran on the defensive. As long as he can't attack, you'll be safe.
The Battle
Start the battle while controlling Xiao. Aim her slingshot at Dran's face. If you hit him, he'll drop to the ground. Xiao's attack won't do much damage, but it will put him in this vulnerable position. Immediately switch to Toan. Circle around to Dran's rear and strike him repeatedly across his legs. This assault will cause major damage. When Dran gets back on his feet, switch back to Xiao and shoot him in the face again. Repeat this cycle until Dran is defeated. If you're fast, you won't take any damage at all.
