A List of PS3 Games With In-game Music

Although video games have had songs from pop and rock stars on them since the early 1980s, it was the introduction of the CD storage format for games in the mid-1990s that made this a more common feature. Many modern-day games for the PS3 have lengthy, multisong soundtracks featuring new and classic songs from recording artists that can be listened to as the game progresses, adding atmosphere and color to your gaming experience.
  1. FIFA 11

    • The "FIFA" series of soccer video games have had their own in-game soundtracks since the release of "FIFA: Road to World Cup 98" in 1997. The in-game music for "FIFA 11" has 34 tracks from modern artists across the genres of indie, rock and dance. Songs featured include "It Only Takes One Night" by Dum Dum Girls, "White Picket Fences" by Jump Jump Dance Dance and "I Can Talk" by Two Door Cinema Club.

    Grand Theft Auto IV

    • When you enter a vehicle in "Grand Theft Auto IV," you have the choice of tuning the car radio to one of 18 in-game radio stations, 15 of which are music-oriented. The stations include specialist transmissions for funk music, Eastern European music and dancehall reggae; tracks featured on the various stations include "Giant Steps" by John Coltrane, "Who's Gonna Take the Weight?" by Gang Starr and "Freek'n You" by Jodeci. Players who purchase the "Tales from Liberty City" add-on packs for the game unlock three extra radio stations: RamJam FM, Self-Actualization FM and Vice City FM.

    Wipeout HD

    • "Wipeout HD" is the eighth release in the "Wipeout" series of racing video games and came out for the PlayStation 3 in 2008. As with many of the other games in the "Wipeout" series, "Wipeout HD" features a soundtrack of contemporary dance music. The standard game soundtrack has nine tracks, including "Smart Systems" by Mist and "Seven Stitches" by Noisia, all presented in Dolby 5.1 surround sound. Purchasing the "Fury" expansion pack for the game unlocks an additional seven tracks, including "Acetone" by The Crystal Method.

    Shaun White Snowboarding

    • "Shaun White Snowboarding" is an extreme sports video game released for the PlayStation 3 in 2008. The game has a soundtrack of 40 songs spanning the genres of classic rock, hip-hop and modern indie.
