My Wireless Guitar Hero Controller Won't Work

The wireless Guitar Hero controller uses wireless technology to connect to the game console. The detachable neck can develop a connection problem with the body of the guitar controller where the wireless circuitry resides, resulting in the video game not recognizing the keys or frets that are being pressed. You can fix this problem by ensuring that the detachable neck connects firmly to the body of the guitar. You will not need to open the wireless Guitar Hero controller, which would void the warranty, although you will first need to clean the connectors on the detachable neck.

Instructions

    • 1

Put a soft cloth on a table. Release the latch on the back of the body of the wireless Guitar Hero controller where the detachable neck meets the body. Pull the detachable neck out of the body of the guitar.

    • 2

Put the detachable neck and the body of the guitar on the soft cloth.

    • 3

Moisten a cotton swab in distilled alcohol. Wipe the connections at the end of the detachable neck with the moistened cotton swab.

    • 4

Moisten another cotton swab in distilled alcohol. Wipe the connections at the end of the body of the guitar with the moistened cotton swab. Dispose of the cotton swabs in the trash.

    • 5

Insert the detachable neck back into the body of the guitar.

    • 6

Moisten another cotton swab in distilled alcohol. Wipe the back of the wireless Guitar Hero controller between the release latch and the end of the detachable neck. Dispose of the cotton swab in the trash.

    • 7

Remove the adhesive cover on the back of the utility wall hook. Hold the utility wall hook so that the plastic hook is facing towards you.

    • 8

Place the utility wall hook on the back of the wireless Guitar Hero controller with the top edge against the seam where the detachable neck enters the body of the guitar. Let the adhesive set for three hours.

    • 9

Loop an end of a rubber band around the strap peg that is on the back of the detachable neck. Loop the other end of the rubber band around the plastic hook on the utility wall hook.

    • 10

Repeat this procedure with two more rubber bands to secure the detachable neck into the body of the guitar so that the connections between the two remain firm.
