How to Fix a Jammed PSP Button

The PlayStation Portable is Sony's handheld game console. Over time, gradual wear and tear can cause certain issues with the PSP's functionality. Jammed buttons are a common issue but can be easily fixed by disassembling your PSP and thoroughly cleaning the internal components.

  1. Fixing Jammed Buttons

    • 1

      Remove the battery cover and battery from your PSP. Unscrew the four screws on the back corners of the PSP, then remove the final screw from the bottom edge. Don't misplace these screws.

      Remove the faceplate of the PSP case. Don't exert too much force. Remove the buttons from the faceplate, and clean the exposed button holes with the dust and lint remover.

      Clean the button contacts on the PSP with the dust and lint remover. Spray off any dust around the button contacts.

      Clean the PSP button pad with the dust and lint remover. Wipe the button pad and the button holes on the faceplate with the soft cloth.

      Use the small flat head screwdriver to carefully nudge any buttons that are still stuck after using the dust and lint remover.

      Remove the left and right bumper buttons from the PSP. Wipe off any dust or residue on the buttons and the button contacts.
