How Can I Make a PSP Into a Gamepad?

Based on its design, a PSP (the PlayStation Portable made by Sony), would make for an excellent gamepad for older PC titles (and console emulators). The only problem is that the PSP is not designed to be used as a gamepad with PCs in any way. For those who still want to use a PSP as a gamepad, there is a way to register your PSP on your PC, so long as you have a wireless router and LUAPlayer on your PSP.

Things You'll Need

  • LUAPlayer
  • Wireless router
  • Netlib 2.0 software
  • PSP Gamepad for PC v1.0 software

Instructions

    • 1

Install Netlib 2.0 software. If you do not have it, you can download it (see Resources).

    • 2

Open the \"papgamepad\" .rar file and extract the \"pspgamepad\" folder to PSP\\GAME\\luaplayer\\Applications.

    • 3

Open the \"index.lua\" file inside the \"pspgamepad\" folder with Notepad and locate the line of code that reads [pc_ip = \"XXX.XXX.X.X\"].

    • 4

Locate your computer's IP address (located inside the Network Connections window in the Control Panel) and enter it into the previous line of code.

    • 5

Start \"LUAPlayer\" on your PSP and select the \"pspgamepad\" option. Press the O (circle) button to activate it.

    • 6

Run \"receiver.exe\" on your computer. Wait a few moments and press random buttons on your PSP until you see the receiver light blink in receiver.exe. Now your PSP will double as a wireless gamepad.
