How to Play MapleStory on PSP

"MapleStory" -- a hugely popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) -- does not directly support the PlayStation Portable (PSP). But you can play "MapleStory" on your PSP across a VNC connection to a PC running "MapleStory." A PSP VNC program called Portable VNC is available through PSP-Homebrew, the PSP hacker network. With a VNC server installed on your PC and "MapleStory" running on your PC you can play the game on your PSP from any Wi-Fi hotspot.

Instructions

Install Portable VNC

  Download Portable VNC from the Web and install it on your PSP. The program is available from multiple websites, including the PSP-Homebrew Info site.

  Install and set up a VNC server on your PC. The most popular free VNC servers are TightVNC, RealVNC, and UltraVNC. A simple Web search for one of these servers will direct you to a website from which to download the program. The download includes installation and setup instructions.

  Get the IP address for your PC. Open a command shell with "Start" > "Run" and type "cmd". Type "ipconfig" in the command shell and press "Enter." Find the IP address next to the entry "IP Address."

  Run "MapleStory" on your PC. Log in to the game with your user name and password. You can do this step on your PSP through the VNC connection, but it is easier to do on your PC.

  Run the Portable VNC client on your PSP. Enter the IP address to your computer. Your PC's display appears on the PSP screen. You can now play "MapleStory" anywhere your PSP can find a Wi-Fi connection.
