How to Repair Your PS2 Eye by Yourself

The Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) video game system plays CD and DVD-based video games. In order to read the games, the PS2 needs a fully-functioning laser eye, also called lens, to read the information. If the eye is dirty, the game will not be read properly, causing the games to freeze or to not load at all. You can use lens cleaner on the laser eye without having to open the system.

     Open your PS2 lid by pressing the "Eject" button.

     Insert the PS2 laser lens cleaner into the PS2 and close the system.

   • 3

     Press the "X" button on the PS2's controller to start running the disc. The process takes about five minutes to perform.

   • 4

     Remove the disc when you are prompted to by pressing the "Eject" button on the system.
