How to Transfer PS2 Game Saves From a PC to a PS3

When the PS2 was at the height of its popularity, it still used physical memory cards. These memory cards were used to store gamers most beloved information, their game saves. Losing a memory card was devastating, so many gamers opted to create game save backups on their PC in the event that something went wrong. Now, with the advent of the PS3 and digital storage, keeping a backup of PS2 games on a physical PlayStation system is possible.

Instructions

  1. Copy Saves to USB

    • 1

      Open the USB drive and right-click. Select "New" and click on "Folder."

      Name the folder "PS3" in all caps and hit "Enter."

      Open the new PS3 folder and right-click, select "New" and click on "Folder."

      Name the folder "EXPORT" in all caps and hit "Enter."

      Open the "EXPORT" folder. Right-click, select "New" and click "Folder."

      Name this folder "PSV" in all caps and hit "Enter."

      Copy any PS2 game saves into this folder. Remove the device.

    Copy Saves to PS3

      Insert the USB device into the PS3 and open the PS1/PS2 Memory Card Manager.

      Select your USB drive and hit "X." This will open the folder containing the game saves you copied from your PC.

      Select the game save you want to transfer and hit "Triangle." Select "Copy" from the new menu that opens to the right.

    • 11

      Copy the save to the PS3 Virtual Memory Card. Do this for each of the game saves you want to transfer.
