How to Remove Corrupted Data on a PS2 Memory Card

The PS2 memory card contains MagicGate encryption, allowing it to store up to 8 MB (megabytes) of memory. Saved game progress, controller settings, custom characters, level difficulty, custom stages and customized weapons are examples of data that the memory card saves. A memory card may experience an error that "corrupts" the data on the card itself, rendering it inaccessible and unusable. It is possible to recover the card to working condition.
