Hints for True Crime City

True Crime: New York City is an action and adventure that features characters in an urban setting. The game was originally released for the PlayStation 2 by Activision, and then later the game was released for the Xbox and Game Cube consoles. In the game, you play a gang member who seeks revenge against a friend who betrayed him and tried to kill him. Marcus is saved by an NYPD officer and 5 years later becomes an NYPD officer himself. Marcus then seeks revenge for an officer who was killed in the Organized Crime Unit.
  1. Fighting Styles

    • In the game, you can easily defeat enemies by using two popular fighting styles: tae kwon do and Thai boxing. You can switch between these styles in the game by pressing left or right on the directional pad while in combat. Another fighting style is called the knock-down-and-boot strategy. You must purchase this skill from the dojo to change your normal attack into a roundhouse kick attack. When fighting an enemy, first perform a roundhouse kick by pressing the A and X buttons, and then repeatedly kick the enemy while he's on the floor. You can also grab and kick the enemy by pressing the B button.

    Rank Unlockables

    • With each rank you gain in the game, you earn more weapons, abilities and driving skills. Gaining the first detective rank will give you the 5.56 mm Carbine, the auto sniper, slo-mo dive ability and the nitro boost for driving. Gain the second detective rank to earn .45 Special, 5.56 mm Bullup AR, sledge hammer, tactical shotgun, precision arm assist and the side-wheeling driving skill. Get the third detective rank to earn the 4.6 mm PDW, tranquilizer, stunt baton, assault rifle, zoom ability and the peel-boost driving skill. Gaining the fourth detective rank will give you the stun gun, 9 mm SMG, standard shotgun, slo-mo dive ability and the switchblade driving skill. Also, if you can gain the fifth detective rank, you can earn the insta-turn driving skill.

    Debug Mode

    • Enabling the Debug mode will prompt the Debug menu and allow you to change many effects in the game. Go to the Pause screen at any time during the game and click on the "Map" menu. Once at the menu, press the L1 and R1 buttons at the same time. Let go of the buttons after 5 seconds and press the right button on the directional pad. While holding the right button down, quickly hold the L1 and R1 buttons down again. Wait 5 seconds, and the music player should pop up. When you see this, let go of the L1 and R1 buttons and press the left button on the directional pad. You will then be taken to the Debug menu.

One of the best features available in the Debug mode is the "Invincibility" option. In the Debug menu, scroll down to the "Default" option under the "Debug Combat" heading. Press the right button to see the option "No Player Damage." Go back to play the game, and your character will now be invincible.
