A List of Protagonists in Xenosaga

Shion

• An employee of Vector Industries, Shion is the co-creator of KOS-MOS the android. Her tasks include further development of KOS-MOS's skills. Shion uses a robotic arm in battle, and she has a wide variety of support "Ether" skills, which heal HP, improve ally stats and remove negative status effects. She can also learn to summon the powerful Erde Kaiser if you follow a certain sidequest, which makes quick work of all enemies, including the final boss.

KOS-MOS

• Designed as an anti-Gnosis weapon, KOS-MOS is a female combat android who resembles a human. She first awakens when the ship she and Shion are traveling on comes under attack by the Gnosis. She has multiple weapons for fighting the Gnosis, including a generator for the "Hilbert Effect," which makes all Gnosis vulnerable to conventional weapons. KOS-MOS's body is her weapon, and she has many technical skills and finishing moves that do damage to the enemy.

chaos

• A mysterious young boy, chaos -- spelled with a lowercase "c" -- appears to be 16 years of age, but is startlingly mature for that age. He does not speak much about himself. He first appears aboard the ship of Captain Matthews, who rescues Shion and KOS-MOS as they were floating in the wreckage of their ship. In battle, chaos has a low attack power but a great deal of damage-dealing Ether skills and a few healing Ethers.

Ziggy

• A combat cyborg with a tragic past, Ziggy was assigned to recover and protect the prototype to the 100-series Realian MOMO. He quickly bonds to the artificial human and becomes protective of her. Like KOS-MOS, Ziggy is a primarily physical fighter, who can occasionally do fire and lightning-type damage with his techs. He also has a few offensive Ether skills.

MOMO

• MOMO is a Realian, a synthetic human. A prototype to the 100-series Observational Unit, her and her sisters were designed to combat the Gnosis. After being rescued by Ziggy from a group that wanted her abilities as a 100-series, they are also pulled aboard Captain Matthews's ship. MOMO's techs mostly do ether-type damage rather than physical. In addition, she has some healing Ethers and can also transform into different forms in combat.

Gainan Jr.

• Jr. is the final protagonist in the game "Xenosaga." He is on the board of the Kukai Foundation, an independent organization from the UN or Galaxy Federation. He is called "Little Master" by Captain Matthews, as he is an employee of the Kukai Foundation. In combat, Jr. uses two pistols to fight, and has some special Ether attacks that do damage and put status effects on enemies.
