Using a Wired Connection
Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the PlayStation 3, and the other end into an Ethernet port on the back of your Internet source -- this is often a modem.
Navigate to the "Settings" section of the PlayStation menu, then scroll down and select the "Network Settings" option.
Select the "Internet Connection" setting in this menu and ensure it is set to "Enabled"
Scroll down to and select "Internet Connection Settings," select "Yes" when asked if you agree to disconnect during the setup, and then choose "Easy" when asked for a settings method.
Select "Wired Connection." Easy setup should then detect and set up the connection without needing further input.
Select "Test Connection" when prompted to ensure you are properly connected. If the test is successful you can now navigate to the "Network" section and select "Internet Browser" to begin browsing the Web. If the test is unsuccessful, check that all connections are properly established and retry steps 2 through 5.
Using a Wireless Connection
Navigate to the "Settings" section of the PlayStation menu, then scroll down and select the "Network Settings" option.
Select the "Internet Connection" setting in this menu and ensure it is set to "Enabled"
Scroll down to and select "Internet Connection Settings," select "Yes" when asked if you agree to disconnect during the setup, and then choose "Easy" when asked for a settings method.
Select "Wireless" connection and proceed with the setup. When prompted, allow the PS3 to scan for networks, select your wireless network from the list, and input the correct password or select "none" under security if you have set no password. Easy setup should then detect and set up the connection without further input.
Select "Test Connection" when prompted to ensure you are properly connected. If the test is successful you can now navigate to the "Network" section and select "Internet Browser" to begin browsing the Web. If the test is unsuccessful check that you have entered the correct password and both your router and modem are receiving a signal and attempt steps 2 through 5 once more.
