Things You'll Need
Instructions
Turn off your PS3 and locate the rectangular panel on the side of the PS3 console marked HDD. Remove the panel with your fingers. The end of the hard drive tray will now be exposed.
Remove the blue screw in the center of the end of the hard drive tray.
Grip the metal latch at the end of the hard drive tray and pull the drive tray out of the PS3.
Remove the four screws on the corners of the drive tray and remove the drive from the tray.
Access the hard drive in your computer and remove it. On laptops there often is a hard drive access compartment on the bottom of the unit. On desktop computers you can access the hard drive via a removable side panel on the computer tower.
Plug the ribbon cable at the end of the PS3 SATA hard drive into the port in the hard drive bay of your computer. If you don't have a SATA port, you can plug the PS3 drive's SATA cable into a SATA to USB adapter and then plug the USB end into an available USB port on your computer.
Turn on your computer and click on the "Drives" icon on your main desktop screen. Click on the HDD drive. Use the arrow keys to scroll through the list of all files in the PS3's hard drive. The BIGFIEL0.VIV file is in this list.
