How to Link Your Laptop and PS3

Your laptop computer holds important data including photographs, video clips and movies. Create a media server on your computer, and then set your PlayStation 3 as a client to view content stored on your laptop on the television connected to your Sony PS3. Using Windows Media Player 11 and an active Internet connection between the two devices, you can authorize what information is shared and view it at any time.

  Launch Windows Media Player 11 from your laptop computer. If you don't have it installed, you can download it free of charge from Windows update.

  Click "Library." Select "Media Sharing" from the options and check the box next to "Share Media."

  Click the box next to your PlayStation 3 and choose "Allow" to give the device permission to access the media server. Click "OK" to confirm the changes.

  Turn on your PlayStation 3 and scroll to the type of media you want to view from photo, music or video. Choose the file you want to play.
