How to Troubleshoot a PS3 Navigation Controller

The PlayStation Move Navigation Controller is a small, one-handed accessory that contains nine digital buttons, one analog trigger and one analog control stick. The controller is powered by a rechargeable battery and communicates with the PlayStation 3 console through a wireless Bluetooth connection. In order for the controller to be used with the PS3, it must first be paired with the console. The controller must also contain enough charge to transmit a Bluetooth signal to the console.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the PlayStation 3 console.

    • 2

Charge the Move Navigation Controller battery by connecting the controller to the console with a mini USB cable. Connect the small end of the mini USB cable to bottom of the Move Navigation Controller. Connect the large end of the mini USB cable to one of the USB ports on the front of the console.

    • 3

Charge the controller for at least 30 minutes. While charging, the red LED on the bottom of the controller will flash. If the LED does not flash, connect a different mini USB cable to the controller. If the LED still does not flash and the controller is unresponsive, you will need to contact PlayStation Support for a battery replacement.

    • 4

Press the "Home" button in the center of the Move Navigation Controller to pair the device with the console. The red LED will change from blinking to solid during the pairing process. Once successfully paired, you will be able to use the Move Navigation Controller with your console.

    • 5

Unplug the mini USB cable from the Move Navigation Controller when the LED changes from solid to blinking.

    • 6

Test the various buttons on the controller while browsing the PlayStation 3 menu. If the controller is unresponsive, press and hold the small reset button on the back of the controller. Connect the mini USB cable to the controller and press the "Home" button to re-synchronize the device to your console. Remove the mini USB cable and test the controller once more. If the controller is still unresponsive, you will need to contact PlayStation Support for further assistance.
