A dynamic theme is an animated background that displays on the PS3 main menu. Dynamic themes are generally based off of games, movies and other entertainment properties. In addition to the bundled themes, additional dynamic themes are available in the PlayStation Store. After downloading a theme, it must be manually installed from the Theme Settings menu located under Settings.

Go to the "Settings" icon on the PS3 main menu (XMB).

Select "Theme Settings." Select "Theme."

Highlight the theme you want to use and press the "X" button.
