In addition to its gaming abilities, the PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a multimedia device that supports audio, video and photos. When multiple people are using a single PS3, the ability to create additional profiles (referred to as Users by the PS3) allows everyone to have their own theme, in-game settings, control preferences and PlayStation Network account linked to that user. User accounts cannot be password protected.

Scroll to the "Users" icon on the PS3 main menu.

Select "Create New User."

Press the "X" button and use the on-screen keyboard to enter a name for the user. Select "OK" to save the profile.
