How to Fix a Game When It's Corrupted on PS3

Games that have been downloaded from the PlayStation Network can become corrupted if there is a problem with the initial download, installation or with the hard drive on your PlayStation 3. A corrupted game will refuse to load or will give you an error message when you attempt to run it or during certain parts of the game. You must re-download the game to get a fresh copy on your PlayStation 3. A new download will replace the corrupted files and allow you to play the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Highlight the corrupted game on the "Game" section of your PS3's XMB menu. Press the triangle button and select "Delete." Select "Yes" to delete the game from your hard drive.

    • 2

Open "Account Management" from the "PlayStation Network" section of the XMB. Select "Transaction Management."

    • 3

Open the "Transaction History." This is a list of all purchases and downloads from the PSN store. Highlight the game that was corrupted from the list and select the option to re-download.

    • 4

Select the downloaded game under the "Game" section of the XMB to re-install it to your hard drive.
