How to Close the Gate on Sonic the Hedgehog for PS3

The "Sonic the Hedgehog" game relies on moving the character at high speeds while attempting to clear a level filled with obstacles. To close the gate that ends a level in the PlayStation 3 (PS3) version of the game, apply a series of moves using the game controller at a specific area on the play-field in the first "Act." The procedure can be repeated as many times as necessary in order to close the gate.

  Insert the "Sonic the Hedgehog" game disc in the PlayStation 3's front-loading disc slot. Navigate to the "Video" menu on the screen. Press down on the controller until you see the icon of the disc. Highlight the disc. Press the "X" button to activate the game.

  Select "New Game" from the initial game menu. Press the "X" button to start the game.

  Move the Sonic character across the play-field, using the direction pad on the controller. Begin to run by holding in on the "X" button. Jump over the bridges that appear from the right side by pressing the "O" button as the character begins to step onto the bridge.

  Repeat this procedure to jump over a bunch of robotic bad guys that are standing on a rock. Reverse direction and run through the bad guys to knock them off the rock, or jump on them to knock them off the rock (using a combination of holding down the "X" button while pressing repeatedly on the "O" button).

  Stop the character on the rock once all of the bad guys are no longer there. Move the character so that he is standing on the switch for the gate that can now be seen. Press the "O" button to cause the character to jump up and push in on the switch. This will close the gate.
