How to Check PS3 Slim Gigs

In 2009, Sony released a smaller version of the PlayStation 3, which gamers call the PlayStation 3 Slim to differentiate the newer version from the larger, older PlayStation 3. In addition to the smaller size, the PlayStation 3 Slim features larger hard drives, ranging in capacity from 160 to 320 gigabytes. The menu system on the PlayStation 3 Slim remains the same as the older models. For example, actions such as checking the amount of available space on your PlayStation 3 Slim hard drive remain the same and are performed through the main menu of the console.

     Turn on your PlayStation 3 Slim.

     Select the "Settings" tab on the PlayStation 3's main menu.

     Select the "System Settings" icon.

     Select "System Information." The amount of free space on your PlayStation 3's hard drive is listed next to the "Free Space:" listing. The number before the slash is the amount of space left and the number after the slash is the amount of total space. For example, 34/160 indicates you have 34 gigabytes free out of 160.
