How to Open Up the DI 524 Firewall for the PS3

Routers such as the D-Link DI-524 include built-in firewalls that can block incoming traffic from unknown sources. Occasionally, these firewalls may block you from attempting to connect to legitimate networks, such as the PS3's PlayStation Network. This problem can be resolved by opening up the ports on your router that the PlayStation Network uses. This will give your PS3 an open route to connect to the PlayStation Network servers to access the PlayStation Store and play games online.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your computer's Web browser and enter your default IP address into the address bar. For the D-Link 524, the default IP address will be 192.168.0.1.

    • 2

Enter your network's username and password. By default, enter "admin" as your username and leave the password field blank. If you have manually changed this information, enter your own username and password.

    • 3

Click on the "Advanced" tab to bring you to the router's port forwarding function.

    • 4

Click the "Enabled" bubble, enter a name for the port, set the Protocol Type to "TCP," enter "80" in the "Private Port" and "Public Port" fields, set the schedule to "Always" and click "Apply" to add that port.

    • 5

Repeat the previous step to open the TCP ports 443, 5223 and 10070-10080. If you would also like to connect to the PlayStation Home server, open TCP Ports 3478, 3479, 3480 and 8080.

    • 6

Set the Protocol Type to "UDP" and repeat the previous step to add UDP ports 3278, 3479, 3658 and 10070.
