How to Troubleshoot PS3 Blinking

A blinking light on your PS3 gaming console usually signals a problem. Although your console allows you to play your favorite games, watch standard and HD movies and browse the Internet, the power light may start blinking if the unit is starting to overheat. Your gaming console may overheat if you've been using it for several consecutive hours. Troubleshooting your unit may not only improve game play, but also increase longevity.

  Turn off your PS3 gaming console if the power indicator is flashing red and green alternately. This usually happens when the temperature inside the unit is too high.

  Leave your gaming console off until it cools down, and then turn it back on.

  Press and hold the "Power" button for at least 10 seconds to reset your gaming console if the power light is still blinking.

  Keep objects away from the vents on your gaming console to ensure that adequate airflow exists around the system.
