How to Adjust Brightness on PS3 for Netflix

Play Station 3 owners with a Netflix account, broadband Internet service and a home network set up can stream Netflix videos to their TV with relative ease. To resolve a problem with the brightness/darkness levels of the Netflix videos streamed to your PS3, you have to play around with adjusting the various display and video settings in the PS3̵7;s XrossMediaBar. Unlike with DVD video playback, you cannot adjust the brightness of a Netflix video playing on a PS3 through an on-screen control panel.

Instructions

HDMI Cable

  Navigate to ̶0;Settings,̶1; ̶0;Display Settings̶1; then ̶0;RGB Full Range (HDMI)̶1; in the PS3̵7;s XrossMediaBar.

  Select ̶0;Full̶1; if the black in your Netflix video sometimes appears bright. Select ̶0;Limited̶1; if black appears dull.

  Navigate to ̶0;Video̶1; then ̶0;Netflix.̶1; Try playing a video to test its brightness levels. Only proceed if the problem has not been corrected.

  Press the PS button on the controller to return to the XrossMediaBar.

  Navigate to ̶0;Settings,̶1; ̶0;Video Settings̶1; then ̶0;BD/DVD Video Output Format (HDMI)̶1; in the PS3̵7;s XrossMediaBar. Select ̶0;RGB.̶1;

  Play a Netflix video to test the brightness levels.

  Navigate to ̶0;Settings,̶1; ̶0;Display Settings̶1; then ̶0;Deep Color/Colour̶1; in the XrossMediaBar.

  Change the setting from ̶0;Automatic̶1; to ̶0;Off̶1; or vice versa (whichever is applicable).

  Navigate to ̶0;Video̶1; then ̶0;Netflix̶1; in the XrossMediaBar. Try playing a video to test its brightness levels.
