Download the Hermes payload hex file and click "Download" on the website that comes up. Click on the Atmel website where the Flip software can be downloaded. Click the small disc icon next to "FLIP 3.4.3 for Windows (requires Java Runtime Environment)" to download the Flip installer program onto your computer.
Double-click the "Flip Installer - 3.4.3.exe" file that comes with the Flip software download to open the Flip installer program. Click "Next" to proceed in the Flip installation. Click the box next to the "I accept the terms in the License Agreement" and click "Next" again. Click "Next" once again and click "Install" to finish the installation of Flip on your computer. Click "Next" and "Finish" to exit the Flip installer program.
Connect the USB development board to your computer's USB port while holding the "Reset" button on the USB development board.
Hold down the "Bootloader" button on the USB development board. Release the "Reset" button, followed by the "Bootloader" button.
Open "Flip" on the computer. Click the "Microchip" icon on the Flip main window. Click "USB PCB Controller" on the window that appears. Click the "USB" icon and click "USB" and "Open" from the window that appears.
Click "File" and "Load Hex File" from the menu that comes up. Click the "Hermes" hex file you downloaded and click "OK."
Click the "Program," "Erase," "Verify" and "Check" options from the next window that appears. Click the "Run" option to program the USB development board with the Hermes payload.
Click "Start Application" and unplug the USB development board from the computer. The PS3 USB development board is now programmed with the Hermes payload.
