PlayStation 3 Fallout 3 Glitches

̶0;Fallout 3̶1; is the most recent installment in the post-apocalyptic, role playing "Fallout" video game series. These games offer a range of character-driven plot options, action and combat. However, the games are also infamous for bugs and glitches, and ̶0;Fallout 3̶1; for the PlayStation 3 is no exception. "Fallout 3" for the PlayStation 3 includes a number of coding problems that result in unbalanced play, crashes and occasionally you having to reload the game.
  1. Crashes

    • The initial release of ̶0;Fallout 3̶1; for the PS 3 included a number of bugs that caused the game to crash and freeze. Players suffered freezes during the initial Generalized Occupational Aptitude Test, whenever a PS3 notification arrived, during some loading and waiting sequences, and during some fight sequences. Most crashes and freezes require you to reload the game from your last save point. Patches for the game released in early 2009 fixed most of these problems, but the glitches still occasionally occur.

    Game Balance Problems

    • Some ̶0;Fallout 3̶1; bugs don't end the game but can significantly affect game balance. For example, a mathematical error in ̶0;Fallout 3: Broken Steel̶1; causes Dogmeat to level up at a higher rate than intended. Eventually, your canine companion becomes very dangerous if angered by friendly fire. Other game balance bugs in ̶0;Fallout 3̶1; include non-player characters who come back to life after you kill them, and experience point exploits in NPC dialog and with a robot in Fort Bannister.

    Quest Bugs

    • Characters progress in ̶0;Fallout 3̶1; by completing quests. However, glitches in the game can keep you from finishing a quest and receiving the appropriate reward. For example, there are bugs that cause vital NPCs to disappear from the game, bugs that prevent quest objectives from updating and even a bug where your character's father suddenly has no viable conversation options. Some quest bugs keep you from progressing on your quest, such as doors that don't open when they are supposed to.

    Visual Glitches

    • Some ̶0;Fallout 3̶1; glitches don't significantly affect game play but produce strange graphical effects. For example, a number of monsters and NPCs, including Dogmeat, some super mutants and mutant lizards, may suddenly start floating, and clipping errors may cause one object to become stuck inside another one. These bugs can become problematic if they prevent you from reaching an object or if they render an important item invisible, but are otherwise harmless.
