How to Activate Blu-Ray on the PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3 has the ability to play Blu-ray discs in addition to games. By default, when you insert a disc the playback will start automatically. If you have disabled the PS3's auto-play feature, you can start playing the disc through the console's menu system. When a Blu-ray disc is inserted, the LED in the "Eject" button turns blue.

Instructions

      Turn on your PS3 console.

      Press the "Eject" button and remove the game disc if you have a disc in the drive.

      Insert the Blu-ray disc with the label side pointing up. If you have auto play enabled, the disc starts playing automatically.

      Scroll to the "XMB" menu option and highlight the "BDMV" icon if you have disabled auto play.

    • 5

      Press the "X" button to start the disc.
